WARNING: IMAGE INTENSIVE
SO HI, IT’S BEEN AWHILE… like months since my last post, and around a year since my last cosmetic/skincare related post. But anyways, I recently graduated- well, I haven’t gotten my official paper yet (to use as a place mat)- that’s in the works. But either way, I have my final grades and appropriate graduation status. What will I be doing with my degree? I have no idea! With that said, I am officially free from the burden of education. Now I have a lot more time on my hands since I’m probably not going to look for a job immediately, because I would rather be traveling and whatnot while I’m still (relatively) young. Besides, a lot of people who are older than me have told me to take time to enjoy my freedom while I can, because it’s going to be harder to have time to myself once I’m actually employed. Plus, applying for jobs and interviews is actually anxiety inducing.
Anyways, I went all out on this haul to celebrate surviving university… because well, the only thing that I’ve gotten from university is a lot of extra weight, and a degree. The last time I went all out was probably during the Sephora VIB 15% off, but we won’t talk about that :’). I haven’t purchased any Korean cosmetics/skincare in awhile, and there’s a lot of new and interesting products on the market! I’m pretty much all shopped out on Sephora, so I had to take my addiction elsewhere.
The first part of this haul comes from Jolse (purchased with my own money).
Purchase & Delivery Timeline
May 3rd – Placed order
May 10th – Received EMS shipping notification
May 12th – Received order via DHL
VDL Tint Bar Triple Shot in Triple Burgundy (rebuy)
The VDL tint bars are one of my HG lip products of all time. I repurchased this one because I lost it in an Uber car… ha… ha. Also, it’s my favourite shade, so I had to repurchase it when I got the chance. Out of all the shades, this one has the most obvious gradient effect, due to the contrast between the darkest and lightest colour.
Also, these tint bars smell like Fruit by the Foot or Fruit Roll Up, which is a plus in my books.
Innisfree Long Wear Cushion #21 (rebuy / review)
I reviewed this a long time ago; however, summer has rolled around and not many cushions really fulfill my needs for the summer. A lot of cushions have a dewy finish, which makes them more appropriate for winter time. From my past experience, this cushion is one of the only face makeup products that lasted for hours on end, regardless of the heat. It’s a great product overall, just because the last thing you want is to actually feel your foundation/BB cream sitting on your face throughout the day, or melting off.
Note: the 2016 Innisfree cushions do not fit with other Amore Pacific compacts!
Goodal Nature’s Solution Brightening Sleeping Pack
Goodal Nature’s Solution Rose Leaf Soothing Pack
Monstory Girly Mon Brightening Care Fresh Mask
Etude House Bubble Tea Sleeping Pack (milk)
Let’s be real, I bought this for the packaging… not so much for the effectiveness of the mask.
Laneige Two-Tone Lipbar in Dear Pink
Initial impression: It has a really good colour pay-off, while delivering moisture and shine. It also leaves a slight stain, due to the nature of its colour & pigmentation. Although some people say it has no scent, I would say it is a very faint, sweet scent; it is barely noticeable, unless you put it close to your nose!
Banila Co. Clean-it Zero cleansing balm (rebuy)
This is my fourth tub of this particular product, because it is the only one that completely removes my eye makeup (including waterproof mascara), without irritating my eyes.
I recommend this to anyone who struggles with removing eye makeup or waterproof makeup!
April Skin Magic Snow Cushion #23
And of course, what is a haul without samples? Jolse always provides an abundance of samples, and socks!
Korean Buddy Haul
The rest of the items from here on were purchased through the buying service, Korean Buddy. I’ve read a few reviews on this buying service, and it seemed reliable amongst many people!
For those who are unfamiliar with buying services, it is basically a service where someone purchases products that are presumably unavailable in your own country for you, and then ships it to you. You pretty much give the person money to purchase your products, pay for shipping, and pay them a fee for their troubles. Of course, researching various buying services is important as well, since no one wants to incur crazy fees, or even worse, get scammed of their money.
A buying service is a good way to get your hands on products that are a little more obscure, or unavailable on popular websites- this includes limited edition items, clothing, kpop merchandise and concert tickets. Sometimes it is also the more cost efficient method of getting your hands on a certain product, since some places will inflate the cost of some items. The overall process is straightforward, and you can even request the person to find an item that you can’t find; however, there is a 10% fee for the buying service, as well as an additional fee if you can’t find the item online yourself. The person who runs it is also really polite, and they use an thread to communicate invoices and any additional requests/inquiries!
Here’s a simple run down of the process:
1. You fill out the form on their website.
2. They get back to you with an invoice for the cost of your items.
3. Once you pay, they will order your items for you and notify you once they have your items in possession.
4. They will send you another invoice for shipping & fees.
5. Afterwards, they will ship your items!
Purchase & Delivery Process Timeline:
May 5th – Sent form with all the items
May 6th – Received & paid invoice
May 9th – Added items to my original order, because I might as well
May 9th – Received & paid invoice #2
May 11th – Received a photo of all the items I ordered, and was notified about shipping costs. Also paid for EMS shipping invoice.
May 12th – Received shipping notice and tracking number for my order.
May 18th – Received my order.
The person who responds to the thread is very prompt with their replies, and would update me on the status of my order- such as when some/all items arrived. I haven’t used a buying service since Minarin Shop (which I don’t think is active anymore), so the overall experience was pleasant and there were no issues with communication! I would highly recommend this service for not only shopping, but because the customer service and efficiency of their business is great. I will definitely be using this service again in the future!
Most of the items were purchased from Memebox Korea. Some of the items are available on Memebox USA, but alas, Memebox doesn’t ship internationally anyways. The Elisha Coy Bouquet Essence Cushion and the Beyond Alice in Wonderland products were purchased from their respective brand’s website, and the Whamisa products were purchased from G-Market.
Dearpacker Black Tea & Black Rose Mask
Dearpacker Miffy Black Tea & Black Rose Mask
I couldn’t resist getting this one too, because the packaging is so cute! Dearpacker also has the Alaska Glacier mask with the Miffy design.
Dearpacker Make Remake Cleanser
The Miffy items also came with this super cute cup & lid LOL.
Dearpacker Special Gift Set
The special gift set comes with 6 different samples (5 of each) of their wash-off masks!
Elisha Coy Bouquet Essence Cushion + refill & extra puff.
Isa Knox microcushion in #23 + Refill cushion and extra puffs!
I’m not too sure what the other thing is, to be honest…
Secret Key Ice Cream Tint Glow in watermelon x2 (1+1)
Labiotte Wine Lip Tint in RD02
I’ve seen this around in a lot hauls, so why not? It comes in a cute wine bottle!
Demeter lip balm in Raspberry, Apple Mint, Wild Cherry
I haven’t use these yet, but they smell delicious!
Beyond Alice in Blooming Snow Cushion #2
Beyond Alice in Blooming Two Tone Lipstick #06
Initial impression: It doesn’t quite feel like a lipstick, since it has a very balmy, buttery texture. But it feels moisturizing, and it has good colour pay-off. It’s not opaque as other lipsticks on the market, but it does add a nice wash of pink to the lips. I’m kind of unsure as to why there is a lighter shade in the centre, since it does not have a particular effect on me… nor does it produce the gradient effect that we’re accustomed to. However, I guess it is supposed to give more dimension to the lip by lightening up the centre horizontally, to give a more pouty effect. Also it has a very faint, floral scent- it is not strong enough to ‘taste’ the scent when it is applied.
Pony Effect Everlasting Cushion Foundation in Natural Ivory & refill
Pony Effect Favorite Fluid Lip Tint
From top to bottom:
1. #Cherish Values (1)
2. #Simon Pure (9)
3.#Sheer Delight (4)
4.#Be Agape (10)
Whamisa Organic Flowers Water Cream
Whamisa Organic Flower Toner
A bunch of random samples from their respective brands, and some others.
Samples of the 4 Pony Effect foundation shades. I was thinking about buying the foundation, but I ended up with the cushion instead. Good thing foundation samples were included, so I can try it before committing to a full purchase.
Congratulations on being a trooper and making it through this post!
