One of the steps of skincare is to exfoliate your skin 1-2 times a week (or more depending on your preferences) to remove dead skin cells from the surface to reveal brighter, smoother skin. This process gives your skin more breathing room while improving it overall, because it evens out the texture of your skin as well! Exfoliation acts as breakout prevention because it prevents the buildup of dead skin and sebum clogging up pores. Sometimes products leave residue on your skin because it doesn’t get absorbed completely, which may result in clogged pores or pimples. The former mentioned issue is makes it important to exfoliate so that your skin absorbs products such as serums, essences, or moisturizers properly. There are different types of exfoliators, such as scrubs (with microbeads, sugar, or something like apricot pits), chemical exfoliators (such as creams, serums, or toners), and peeling gels. It all comes down to your needs and preferences!I bought this peeling gel because I wanted to try something different from the typical scrub cleanser. This product has gained recognition through the Allure 2011 Best of Beauty award and the Get It Beauty award. Primera focuses on using natural ingredients in their products, which is more beneficial to the skin than those that have more chemicals/chemically-enhanced ingredients in them. I’ve seen many reviews on their alpine berry cream, although the brand itself is not well-known internationally. Primera is also housed by Amore Pacific who owns many of the brands we know and love (Innisfree, Etude House, Laneige, Hera, IOPE, etc.).
This exfoliator helps to pick up wastes and dead skin cells from the outer layer of skin and gently removes them. It gives a much smoother appearance to the skin, and improves skin texture and tone. The broccoli extract serves to purify and moisturize the skin, while bead tree protects the skin.

The packaging is very reminiscent of Innisfree’s packaging because it’s very simple and has a minimalistic, eco-friendly impression. The box is made of soy ink, which makes it less harmful to the environment in terms of how it is printed and broken down when recycled. The box isn’t cluttered with a lot of information. I find that simple packaging is common amongst products that are on the more expensive side!
The ingredients list can be found at cosdna. It only contains a few ingredients in the yellow safety zone, which is quite good in comparison to a lot of products out there. The more safe ingredients in the product, the more applicable it is to different skin types including those with sensitive skin.
Although the bottle came in a box, it does not have a lid due to its shape. Nonetheless, a pump dispenser is a lot more hygienic than a jar that comes with a spatula. The downside to the gel is that it dries up in the nozzle, so the hardened gel comes out the next time you dispense it.
The peeling gel always leaves my skin feeling really soft and supple after it’s washed off. The great thing about it is that it is abrasion-free so it doesn’t irritate the skin, leave it dry with that tight sensation, or cause inflammation or redness. The aforementioned reasons make it a good exfoliator for those with dry or sensitive skin. While I do not have acne-prone skin, I have yet to experience any negative side effects such as redness or breakouts after a month or so of usage. I think peeling gels and exfoliators with microbeads are a great alternative to some of the scrub exfoliators for sensitive skin because they’re gentler.
There is an issue of availability due to the fact that Primera is not sold internationally, or carried by many online retailers. I think gmarket might be the best option, because some other sites sell it at an inflated price. However, the shipping on gmarket has to be considered when determining which store has the best price. Also, it is expensive for an exfoliator and not budget-friendly. However I haven’t come across many gel exfoliators except for The Face Shop’s Papaya Peeling Gel and the Cure Natural Aqua Gel.
